February 7 Update

[Quick Update Five Minutes Later] Oh yes, I forgot, I've decided to encourage you all to buy/rent the TV series Firefly since it's so awesome. For those of you who haven't ever heard of Firefly, it was canceled after one short season by the thing it was aired by. Our family discovered the DVD collection with all the episodes at our video store, and ever since we first started watching it I've been hooked. The movie Serenity was also created by the director after the series was canceled to thank his devoted fans, and it created an end for the show. Firefly is my all-time favorite TV series and Serenity is a really awesome movie =) To encourage you to watch the episodes and the movie, I'll be posting funny clips and stuff every day. To start off with a bit of background information for you, the plot takes place 500 years into the future. Earth was overpopulated and space travel perfected, so humans left Earth and discovered a whole new solar system of planets that they could terraform, which is when they made the planet habitable. There is currently a central government spanning all the planets called the Alliance. The story is about a crew on a spaceship, called Serenity, who do... er... dishonest work. The captain is Malcolm Reynolds, one of the "rebels" who had fought the Alliance and lost the war, and they fly around delivering and stealing goods and such. Anyways, I thought I'd first introduce you to the theme song, so click this link. [End Update]

Aloha, fellow homo sapiens! Yup, it's Lighty, and here I am apologizing for not doing much until today, and even today I didn't do much. I rewrote and validated the Website page, which is the one with with all the links for the site-related pages, and I've redone about half of the credits page, which took a surprising amount of time.

Anyways, I don't know if I'll be on during this week since I'm so busy, but I'd like to let you all know that not next Thursday, but the Thursday after that, I'll be flying off to Louisiana for my cousin's wedding. I definitely won't be on that Thursday through Sunday, probably, so I'll have to work my butt off next weekend to make up for the lost time.

Sorry for the lack of updating and checking my email; I promise I'll try when I have more time. For those of you interested in my boring life, I've been taking care of my puppy (I wrestled with her today for half an hour as I was giving her a bath =P) and I saw the Sherlock Holmes movie yesterday, which I think is a really well-made movie but I'll have to watch it about ten more times to pick up on half the things they're saying. But I could still follow the plot, and if a theater near you still has it playing, I highly recommend you go watch it if you haven't already. I've also been faced with the dilemna of choosing courses for next year, in which I'll be a high school freshman. I had my courses all planned out, and here they are for you to see:

All in all, that's seven classes for each semester booked, and I was happy with it until Friday after Algebra. My teacher came up to me while everyone else was leaving for lunch and said she thought that next year I should consider taking Advanced Weighted Geometry and Advanced Algebra 2 at the same time, since Geometry would be easier than Algebra 1 (which I'm currently taking), and Algebra doesn't challenge me very much to begin with. My parents are against this, since they don't see any advantages, but I want to since it would put me ahead in math and it would look good on my college applications xD To give you more of a background on what the average not-math-savvy, but not-math-stupid high schooler would usually do, it looks like this (I'm not listing whether they would take the advanced course or not, since they would still go on to the next course next year): Meanwhile, the math-savvy person at our school would do this: Therefore, if I take Algebra 2 and Geometry at the same time next year, I would probably take a math course at a junior college when I'm a senior because in 11th grade I would have taken Calculus already. As I stated earlier, I'm leaning towards doing this, but my problem is that I like the electives I chose, and I would have to replace two semesters of electives with Algebra 2. I wasn't feeling strongly about Choir up until now, since I would be the puny runt who can't sing all over again in high school, but I think if I ever take Choir at all, I should have experience as a freshman so I make that switch to a more advanced choir as a little person, instead of being a big person making the switch who didn't sing at all for a year. I'm not sure if that makes any sense, but it means I don't really want to drop Choir. And as for Internet World and Mythology, it seems stupid that I would drop a class (Mythology) that I wanted to take so bad I had to negotiate with the counselor about it. I can't just take one semester of Algebra 2 by dropping Internet World, so I really don't know what to do.

Sorry about that long rant! I had to get it all off my chest =P Anyways, I hope to be talking to you guys soon!

~Love from Lighty
